The United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. 40/212 of 1985 declared to celebrate December 5th every year as the International Volunteer Day. This resolution called on the governments of countries to create a policy environment to support the voluntary activities of their citizens, and to support the cooperation and participation of voluntary organizations.

Network of Mongolian Volunteer Organizations has been officially celebrating the International Volunteer Day since 2008. On this day, volunteers and organizations that work with volunteers present their work throughout the year to the public, and launch a campaign to mobilize and support the power of volunteers to solve the problems facing society.
